Sea levels are rising everywhere, but in some areas they are rising quicker than others, bringing increased dangers of flooding. A new satellite — Jason 2 — has been launched to continue work to monitor the situation, providing valuable information for scientists trying to understand how ocean levels fit into the climate change puzzle.

The community of Kamburu, central Kenya, have been working with the Institute for Culture & Ecology (ICE). The community have set about re-learning and enhancing their traditional, ecologically-sound farming methods, and have returned to using their locally adapted indigenous seeds. In the process, they have become food secure and resilient to climate change. With a food surplus after just 18 months, they are sharing their learning with neighbouring communities. This approach is community-led, recognising that the agricultural knowledge needed for food sovereignty and climate resilience is already within the community.
