Green D.I.Y. Energy

Why pay thousands of dollars for solar energy ($27,000 average cost) when you can build your own solar panel system for just a fraction of the retail cost? You can build a single solar panel, or you can build an entire array of panels to power your whole house.  Read More!

I guess that if you have taken the time to search for this article you must be pretty serious about the environment and looking for ways to be eco-friendly when it comes to ways to powering your home or business, or to supply hot water to your premises. By considering the use of sources of renewable energy you will be doing your bit for the planet, but why stop there, why not help yourself as well and save yourself a whole load of money by carrying out a diy conversion using either one or a combination of both of the two readily available methods of renewable energy.

Firstly, let’s talk about the more commonly used of the two main sources of renewable energy, Solar Power. Everywhere you go these days you will see solar panels on buildings and road signs supplying the power. Even though you might be thinking that the sun does not shine every day in your location and that solar panels would not work for you, start thinking again. The UV rays from the sun still filter their way through the clouds, it is the solar radiation that supplies the power ultimately, not the heat you are getting from the sun. So, you now know that you do not need 365 days of sun to make it a feasible proposition.

Solar power has many benefits, such as, solar cells are noiseless, clean and non-polluting. Also, they are long-lasting and require very little maintenance as they do not have any moving parts. Initially, if you purchase a ready made system and have it installed the cost is quite high and will take you a number of years to recover your costs, however, it is now possible to be able to build your own solar cells and carry out your own diy solar power conversion, there are several manuals out there which will guide you through each step. Think of the savings you can make then with the reduction in your energy bills, it is well worth considering.

The second of the main sources of renewable energy used today is Wind Power. Of course, your location needs to be considered here as you will need to checkout the average wind speeds in your area. Ideally you will be looking for somewhere between 8 and 12 mph to be able to supply you with sufficient energy. A  wind turbine generator is basically a generator sited on top of a mast with a set of turbine blades and being turned by the wind, the power that is generated is fed into a bank of batteries and in turn connected to your home or business supplying you power for next to nothing.

One of the main differences between solar and wind power is that a power system using wind will need a higher level of maintenance due to the greater number of moving parts. Once again, a diy wind power project is easily possible by using the information given in any of the ‘How To’ guides that are readily available.

If you are seriously interested in saving yourself a great deal of money whilst helping the environment, a DIY Solar or Wind Power project is well worth considering. For more information on DIY Solar or Wind Power check out my website http://homemade-solar-cells.com

If you are fed up with your high monthly expenses and you want to know more about solutions of electricity from renewable energy take a look at the following information – it may surprise you. Let’s start with the fact that you can create enough electricity to run air conditioners, heaters, washers, dryers, and more, all by yourself, and almost for free – sounds impossible? Hear what i have to offer on the subject and get the great news.

It’s like this – most people expect the electric company to supply their electricity; they pay their bills month-by-month and often have to economize elsewhere in order to have this irritating expense. On the other hand, there are people who decided that enough is enough, they were tired of that monthly money crunch – what they wanted is absolutely free and unlimited power supply that would actually last them forever.

Before you get more information about solutions of electricity from renewable energy be sure to consider the real possibility of starting your own energy generating system; with very little time and effort, you can be using your own free, green energy – you just have to take that first step. If you’re like most people, you are probably now full of questions on what this is really all about; well all this can be achieved by creating electricity out of ‘thin air’ or ‘out of the blue’ through the power of the wind and the sun. Do you know that it’s possible for anybody to construct a personal energy generator using sun and wind power in almost no time without leaving their home?

Even if it happens to be that you are in the middle of a web research on solutions of electricity from renewable energy hopefully you now realize how easy it is to build your own power supply system that can actually decrease your electric bills by as much as 100%! You might be saying to yourself that this is too big an undertaking; well, it used to be that way, but not anymore – fortunately for all of us, a well-respected expert in the highly specialized field of renewable energy has streamlined the process to let everyone reap the rewards.

Renewable Energy Options

As political and commercial facets of fossil fuels grow more harrowing, renewable energy is becoming more popular. Here?s an helicopter view of renewable energy.

Renewable Energy Overview

Renewable energy is tougher to outline than you may imagine. Since it is a catchall phrase for a number of power sources, any definition needs to be broad. With this under consideration, let?s define green energy as any power source that naturally occurs and is extraordinarily abundant.

Ironically, just about all clean energy sources rely on nuclear power. Fortunately, the nuclear power is in the shape of the sun at the center of our solar system. One giant nuclear reaction, the sun produces solar energy and sunlight that is converted on our planet into energy thru natural resources. In one form or another, sunlight is the base for solar power, wind energy, biomass power, and so on. Carbon-based fuels, on the other hand, are a kind of biomass energy, but a traditional one with resource boundaries and brutal side effects in the shape of pollutants.

Solar Energy is the most elementary and direct form of replenish-able energy. Relying on the kind of platform used, sunlight is converted right into electricity or heat. years. Once the sun burns out, we are going to have much larger problems than energy!

Wind energy is another form of solar energy. You intrinsically are mindful of this if you concentrate on the temperature differences when standing on a black carpark vs grass in a park. Air above a hot surface will rise and less warm air from surrounding areas will dive into to fill the gap. This temperature-induced movement creates wind in its most simple form.

Modern wind turbines are between 25 and 35 % efficient at changing wind power into electricity. Wind energy into electricity.

When water moves, it tends to carry a lot of inertia and stored energy. On a less disastrous learned to use the power of moving water to produce electricity. Often seen on big projects, hydropower generally is employed in the shape of dams. A dam is placed in a brook, making a reservoir. Using gravity, water is then released thru pipes in the dam.

This is starting to change. The basic concept is very similar to to hydropower. Although the tides move comparatively slowly, the contain massive amounts of energy. Once thought an odd energy concept, tidal energy is coming on powerful as an energy platform in Europe.

By exchanging liquids between above and below ground areas, temperature regulation can be done. This is typically seen in residential situations.

Biomass energy is a clean energy source, but not always a clean one. The concept behind biomass energy is to convert the chemical energy in the biomass into usable power. This regularly happens by burning it, which is cryptic since doing so causes pollution. It also needs to be grown, cropped and converted into power. Of all the clean energy sources, biomass is the least attractive.

We have lots of options when it comes to kicking the fossil fuel habit. Although there’s a chance one of these options will become dominant, it is more likely that a combination of all the above green energy platforms will be the answer.

Many of us are getting the message: it’s time to make better choices in regards to the way we get, and use, our energy.  We now understand that there are other options and renewable sources of energy.

In higher numbers than ever before people are looking into building their own solar panels and wind turbines…for home use.

The neat thing is that you can too.  Solar power and wind power have advanced to the point where it is now viable for any homeowner to benefit from one, or both of these energy source.

Solar energy is arguably the most recognizable source of energy for home use.  Solar panels have been on roofs in some areas of the country for decades.

And while it is an effective source of renewable energy for many people it isn’t their best option.  The reasons for that are:

1. Not every part of the country gets a lot of sunny weather and therefore there will be many days when you aren’t generating electricity.

2.  Solar panels won’t work at night and no matter how sunny your climate there will be a big part of the day, every day, when you aren’t producing electricity.

3. On average one wind turbine will generate about the same amount of electricity as 5 solar panels.  And can work day or night as long as there is wind.

Of course wind energy has it’s issues too such as the fact that it needs a fairly big open space.  Though if you mount your turbine on your roof you can overcome that to a large degree.

The bottom line is that there are several renewable sources of energy that you can start utilizing today to save  you money for years to come, all with very little effort on your part.

Even though renewable energy sources such as wind and sun have been around for centuries, it’s only now becoming viable for use by the average homeowner.

It used to be that bigger was better when it came to wind power, and that is still largely true.  The bigger the turbine the more electricity you can generate.

But with some advancements in the method used to convert that energy into electricity a smaller turbine now makes sense.

Of course one small turbine isn’t going to produce the same amount of electricity as a giant turbine, it can still help you save on your utility bills, significantly.

If you choose to buy your turbine that savings will evaporate pretty quickly.  Purchasing a turbine will cost you $1,000 and up, so it will take you  a long time to get that money back.

It’s best if you build your own turbine for a few hundred dollars.  The homemade turbine will still generate the same amount of electricity as one you buy, but with a much smaller upfront cost you’ll get your money back in months instead of years.

It is easy to find a book that will show you how to build your turbine.  This is a project that virtually anyone can do.  You don’t need to know anything about it.

All the parts you need can be bought locally for around $200.

Even though building your own turbine is cheap, the amount you save on your energy bills is substantial.  Most people see a savings of up to 80%.  When you factor that out over years, you can see the potential of using this energy source for your house.

So if you want to use renewable energy sources such as wind power, you  couldn’t have picked a better time.  We’ve advanced to the point where even one small turbine can help you save a lot of money on your energy bills.
